What is the BeagleBone® Motor Cape?

Drive DC motors with direction and PWM control using the BeagleBone® Motor Cape. DC motors are ideal for use in applications where speed control is required such as in small toys, models, robots, or home automation.  One easy way to control the speed of the motor is to regulate the amount of voltage across its terminals and this can be achieved using “Pulse Width Modulation” or PWM.  PWM drives the motor with a series of “ON-OFF” pulses and varies the duty cycle.  In addition to DC motors, PWM is commonly used to control RGB LEDs for lighting associated with communications and artistic installations.
